Since this is only a three-day week, I'm going to write an abbreviated newsletter with only the most important information. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Homework
- Wednesday is the Spring Arts Festival. The school did not do t-shirts this year. Instead, it will be a Western NUD in honor of our visiting artist, Bonnie Beauchamp-Cooke. Students should wear jeans, no shorts, and a "western" top of some sort. They may also wear their uniform. We will be on the back field, so students must also wear their tennis shoes.
- Wednesday afternoon, we are having the Easter Egg Hunt for our buddies. If your student has not already brought in their five small items for the eggs, please have them bring them tomorrow. If you're having trouble finding items other than candy, the LS bookstore has lots of small items, like erasers, for under fifty cents. I will be providing the plastic eggs.
- I sent home the forms on Friday to let me know if you're interested in having one of the optional end-of-year conferences. Please note, these conferences take place before the last report card comes out. Please note, the conferences are only available on May 13. Tomorrow is the last day to let me know if you are interested in having one.
- The day we return from Easter break is Earth Day. Our focus this year is butterflies. Therefore, the NUD colors will be those found on Monarch Butterflies, black, orange, yellow, or white. Students may also wear other "earth themed" outfits.
- We will be working onERB prep for the next two weeks. We will be focusing on how to approach different types of questions and learning different strategies for different questions. We will also be working on preparing for the WArP. ERB testing will be 4/28 - 5/2 and the WRaP will be 5/6 - 5/7.
- Because of the number of days we lost this year with ice and the broken pipe flood, we realized that we were going to be unable to get through all of the lessons in the math curriculum. After speaking with the 6th grade teachers about the most important skills for out students to have moving forward, we have selected thirteen lessons from the remaining units. We will be teaching them as one unit and compiling our own test to cover only the material taught. Our plan is to have everything completed before the last week of school. That way we have time to get the tests graded before the end of the year.
