Additional Information:
Sons of Liberty was created in Boston 1765. It was formed to stop the Stamp Act where British wanted most products (newspapers, documents, playing cards) to be printed in England. This act was made by King George Greenville. It got named after the stamp that was put on those things to add tax. Colonists got pretty mad, but they didn’s have say in it. Yet they chanted “Taxation without representation”. Sons of liberty was an secret group including John Hancock, Samuel Adams, Paul Revere, John Adams, Patrick Henry. 29-year-old Patrick Henry was the main founder. He was the ones who pushed his the other legislators to not turn back. He said “If this be treason, make the most of it.”. So delegates from nine colonies got together and formed the Sons of Liberty. Colonists were part of these groups. They rioted in large large towns. They burned buildings.
The British were shocked by all of this, and were worried. March 1766, George Greenville was forced to resign, and the Stamp Act was ended. This is what the Sons of Liberty wanted. This later caused the Tea Act.
